Week 26

Tough week with two tough tournaments..! One minor goal for the year is to be able to compete against the top 10 players in Sweden so when I signed up for two 50K National tournaments I wanted to prove that. Not the case this week and I got quite a struggle with my game at the moment, but not only misery..! glimpse of progress is still made! Practice with Linus Olausson, Alexandra Viktorovitch, Edvin Sköld and Thommy Johansson this week!

– If this shot does not work, there will be no point playing..

  • As I said, a tough week! A really close match in the first tournament against Klöv-Nilsson! I could not get as many points on the serve while my offensive game was struggling..! Pretty similar versus Carlsson-Seger where I could not maintain a good level during the match! The goal for upcoming weeks is to find better precision and focus so I can keep a higher level during the matches! Small amount of progress is till progress! Keep it going!

Week 25

Good week with a lot of training, work, physical training and a fun trip to Germany with league match that could have gone better..!
During the week I’ve practiced with Sebastian Abboud, Hugo Nossler, Linus Olausson, Alexandra Viktorovitch and Klara Milicevic! I’ve found a bit more edge in my game even though I need a lot more! But I could still sense progress which is important! The physical training was also good with a small improvement in stamina. Very small improvement, but still! During the weekend it was travel and one league match in Germany for Eintracht Frankfurt in Bundesliga for age 30+! Pretty high standard league where the best players are names like Fabio Fognini, Fernando Verdasco and Tommy Haas with many others!

Eintracht Frankfurt – BASF TC Ludwigshafen – 1-8

Vasile Antonescu (ROU) (1314) – 2-6, 3-6

Doubles w Andres Angerjärv (EST) (-)

– First time representing the great club Eintracht Frankfurt in Bundesliga Age 30+ and also proud to announce a new collaboration with Muskelbygget!

  • First of all a lot of fun playing the league in Germany! 6 singles and 3 doubles are played so there is many matches going on at the same time! I was not happy with my performance in either singles or the doubles, but the opponents were tough! In the singles I felt that I could have served better, but mainly keeping a more offensive stance during the rallies and kept the balls closer to the baseline! In doubles I served really well, but I had big trouble with returning which is so crucial against these kind of players! Also my anticipation in the net rallies need to be better! On to the next week!
I’m also happy to announce a new collab with Muskelbygget that will help with all sort of nutrition to get me closer to my goals! Big thanks to Jimmie Trywall and Muskelbygget!

Week 24

Not the most impressive week in terms of practice, but I managed to find time and did a few hours with Alexandra Viktorovitch, Sebastian Abboud and Hugo Nossler! We did have the final weekend in the league and that went for sure well! Because of work I also did not all the physical training, but tried to compensate by doing more after the matches so the week was still alright in terms of physical training..!

TaTK – Elfsborg Tennis – 4-0

Solid win in my hometown with these two warriors! Edin&Hugo!!

  • A fine weekend with two wins the Swedish league! The game felt alright and it’s also good to see the me and Nossler continue to play better in doubles! A good thing for future league matches! I still need to improve my depth, dictating more rallies and also my stamina which is not the best..! On to the next week! Lesgo!

– Insane line up in this weekend League game!!

  • First let us sum up the matches of the summertour! The match vs Thour was a classic! 4.5 hours of slice and dice! I fought a lot, but couldn’t find a good offensive move this game..! My movement was fine and serving alright, but no real power in my strokes! I really need to find a more offensive position in these matches! I also felt some cramp in the thigh which was problematic in the third set. I had a match point in the second set tie-breaker, but it wasn’t enough..! The league match was better and I found a better way to move the ball around, and also our double match was good! New week with a lot of grinding! Keep it up!

Week 22

Interesting week with summertour in Lund beside some training and quite a lot of work! I did have some practice with Hugo Nossler, Alexandra Viktorovitch, Edvin Sköld, Henrik Wallensten and Per Åström beside of the group sessions! We did also start up qualification in our own summertour so there was quite a lot of coaching later on the weekend! The physical training was alright, but I need to put in more time, especially with the stamina training!

Lean back backhand in Växjö – unhealthy and too common..!

  • Really tough, but great practice in Lund! In the final against John Hallquist-Lithén it was especially tough! He´s a lefty player with good spin and power in his forehand! I usually have big problems with his style of play! He can reach a weakness in high backhands from my side! One positive thing from the match is that I really tried to play a game to win! Unfortunately I could not execute it at all really..! I need to improve my backhand side so I can keep pace and control! I also need to really find more power in my forehand so I can make more points from that side! Back home and train!

Good week with a lot of work, practice and a tournament with a different set up! I did some training wth Henrik Malm and Alexandra Viktorovitch beside the group sessions! Awesome to play some matches outdoor on hardcourt!

  • First of all!. Great organized tournament! A round robin format with a guarantee of 3 matches for each player is just impressive! The final had 1 umpire, 2 line judges, livestream, commentator and a speaker! Very well done!
  • To my game. I didn’t find my game during this tournament with some highlight serving indoor against Anton Stendahl! In the loss against Karlsson-Wistrand I couldn’t find an offensive way of playing with some super slow hard court outdoor! I need to improve my offensive game and try to find better selection of shots to make my points! Also my stamina was a bit of a problem during some of the longer rallies! Back home and improve!

Week 20

Intense week with both a summertour and a league match! I’ve had some minor problems with my right foot this week and it resulted in not so many practice hours between the summertour and the league match. Nothing muscular and after the matches in the League on this sunday it feels better! I did do a 2 hour practice with college player Hugo Nossler indoor and also one hour group training! It also limited my physical training a bit during the week, but as I said it’s alright now!

– Intense week with final against good player Adam Heinonen and a fun league match with great friends Löf, Hugo, Alex and next gen Edin!

  • Small glimpse of a good level! It was up and down this week! I played my best clay court match this year in the semi final in Växjö against Thour, then a not so good much later against Heinonen..! My thinking about that match is that Adam made me play a lot of backhand and it was not really working that match! I need to play it more offensive and also my mentally part did not work. It also was frustrating with my small foot injury! But to see some small glimpse of a better level is great!
Then I had some days of to recover my foot and I felt that in the league game on this sunday. I had some highlights during the match, but overall I was lacking power and consistency..! In the doubles it was a lot that didn’t work. Serve, return of serve did not connect at all and also my volley and positioning was not good. Me and Hugo haven’t played before so we will improve! I also need to get into a higher energy level during the doubles so I can poach better!
Let’s get to work next week! A lot to improve!

– High backhands, no thanks. Slice, yes please!

  • Incredible tough week with so many even matches on few days..! The future event was my main target this month and it went well! My best win this year against Denmark number 3 and 736 ranked Ingildsen. I played very well and the match was so close! In my second round against Minasyan I could not reach as high level. Minasyan played solid and went up to 6-1, 5-2 before I almost made a great escape. I had 4 set points before I lost 6-8 in the tie-breaker..! The big problem in the match was depth and power from the baseline. I did not really find it during the whole tournament, but it was really devastating in the match because I could’nt make any good offensive points really. I need to improve power and depth in the upcoming matches and futures!
The summertour in Värnamo was a war really. Three very close matches where I found a way to win in the end, but my body did not feel well after the final. Great to find wins when the game isn’t really there, but I need to improve a lot in my game. Depth, power and winning strokes in the rallies.
1 ATP point and world ranking again is great and also a summertour win! Let us keep going!

A great week with a tough ending and a league match loss! We played two matches this weekend! I will come back to them! First, great practice during the week with Johan Claesson, Johan Wennerholm and Emil Hultman beside the group training! The physical training work fine, but I still need to put in more work in stamina! It’s still okey though and didn’t have any problem playing two singles and two doubles this weekend!

Samuel Börjesson (SWE) (-) – 6-3, 6-0

Doubles w Johan Wennerholm (SWE) (-)
Samuel Börjesson (SWE) (-) / Philip Cassel (SWE) (-) – 3-6, 5-7

– Dreamteam in the away win against Lidköpings TK; Joel, coach Löf and Edin!

  • Great to get som matches again and always fun to team up with good friends and play! The game felt alright, but I need to step in more and play more aggressive tennis! The control in matches was good and also the serve was there! My body felt alright, but as I said, more stamina! Also better flexibility would help!
In the doubles I need to poach more and rise the energy level! Better in the second double. Also my returns need to get sharper! Let us improve!

Then also practice with Emil Hultman, Linus Olausson and finished the week with a practice in Växjö with Robin Thour! I also did a few practice with the club groups during the week!
